It may be back to the drawing board for the proposed mural project on the walls of the old Civic Arena in Nelson. By a narrow margin, Council chose not to allocate it any money until its scope has been thrashed out between the Sports Council and Cultural Development Committee. Councillor Donna MacDonald:
The initial proposal has a total $100,000 price tag which Council figures is too high. That’s why an arts jury chose not to support it for recent CBT funding. But the City awarded it $10,000 anyway and could still allocate some money for phase one from a reserve fund for special projects.
