Lapointe a "champion of human rights": Mayor

A tribute from the mayor of Nelson for a long-serving city employee who passed away recently.

Bev Lapointe worked in parks and public works for 32 years and was a strong activist for public services and environmental issues.

John Dooley ended this week’s council meeting with a few words about her fight for human rights.

Dooley says Lapointe was pushing boundaries decades ago.

As an example she became one of the city’s best snow plow operators at a time when some people may have figured that wasn’t a woman’s job.
