The City of Trail should have done more work to inform the public about the benefits of the proposed pedestrian/pipe bridge.
This from Mayor Dieter Bogs who says he is disappointed that it seems a petition will force the $9.8 million project to a referendum.
He says the infrastructure would be funded by the annual Gas Tax revenue and wouldn’t affect taxpayers.
However, he understands people get concerned when so much money is being spent on a single initiative.
Bogs admits the time frame may have been too long between their original public consultations and approving the loan to fund the project.
Those loan repayments will be made with the Gas Tax funding.
