If you were job hunting last month in the Kootenays you certainly weren’t alone.
Statistics Canada says the local unemployment rate stood at 9.4% in August.
That’s compared to 6.4% a year earlier.
The labour force grew by 7,000 over last year even as the population declined slightly.
The BC rate was 6% while the national rate was 7%.
