Rainbow sidewalk in Castlegar

A rainbow has appeared in Castlegar … not in the sky but on the ground!

The City spent approximately $2,000 to turn a 3rd St cross-walk into the colourful symbol widely associated with gay pride.

City Councillor Deb McIntosh headed the initiative that was announced last November.

The painting was finished Thursday.

She admits certain residents will voice their opposition just as they did last year.

The City of Vancouver and Trinity Western University in Kamloops already have permanent rainbow crosswalks.
