2 Kootenay forestry companies enter record books

The Guinness Book Of World Records has added a little bit of Kootenay content to it’s pages.

Back in May, teams from Interfor and Atco Wood Products were part of a North America-wide effort to set the record for most trees planted simultaneously in an hour.

The event was organized by the Sustainability Forestry Initiative, a non profit organization which promotes sustainable forest management.

Interfor’s David Jackson says the record shows that our forests are in good shape.

28 teams took part, planting nearly 203,000 trees from New York to Vancouver Island.
