Trail aims to stop illegal dumping

Residents of Trail are reminded that disposing of waste outside the landfill is illegal.

Surveillance cameras have been installed at one of the areas where illegal dumping has become problematic.

Michelle McIsaac, Corporate Administrator for the city of Trail, says it raises environmental concerns.

While some of the dumpers have been identified upon reviewing tape, city council is unable to issue any fines or tickets.

But they are looking to change bylaws so they can move forward with penalizing violators in future instances.
