Firefighters in Castlegar have a new ladder truck coming their way.
It will come with a 100-foot (33 m) ladder platform and increased capacity for water-pumping.
Fire chief Gerry Rempel says the new vehicle was a requirement for his department.
The truck will be custom built with a price tag of over $1Â million.
Remple hopes to have it by Christmas next year.
