Upgrades for Stephenville Square

An area of downtown Castlegar that has been recognized as a safety issue is getting cleaned up.

$10,000 has been set aside by city council to clean up Stephenville Square and add LEDlighting.

Here’s councilor Sue Heaton-Sherstobitoff.

Civic crews have already cleared up some of the brush that made the area on Columbia avenue hard to see, and she says you can already notice the difference.

The lighting will stay year round, and in the summer the area will be equipped with picnic tables.
