Nakusp man in Spokane jail after smuggling MDMA

A judge has denied a 64-year-old Nakusp man’s request to be released from a Spokane county jail.

Leslie Nateman is being held on charges of trying to smuggle 60 pounds of MDMDA powder into the U.S.

The commercial truck driver was picked up this month at the Metaline Falls crossing south of Salmo.

He hoped to return to Canada but a Federal judge has refused to grant him bail.

The drugs were found hidden in a mattress pad.

MDMA is used to make ecstacy.
