The Kootenay Lake School Board has decided to put the lion’s share of their budget surplus into staffing.
The surplus is seen as a one-off allocation so SD 8 was not keen on investing in new programming that might not be sustainable in years ahead.
The 23-person Facilities And Operations Committee thrashed out many funding requests.
In the end superintendent Jeff Jones says most of the near $740,000 will go to addressing pressure points on students.
A large part of the remaining funds will go to computer technology and for school supports for the children of syrian refugees who may be settled in our district early next year.
