2016 BC Property Assessments

BC Assessments has released their list of property valuations in our region for 2016.

In most of the Kootenays single family residential homes and condos have seen an increase of up to 10% depending on the community.

These figures are for tax assessment purposes and the values of individual homes may differ. The figures are based on sales the last year.

Nelson and Rossland have seen the biggest increase with values up around 6% to 7%.

The value of a typical single family home in the Alpine City is now $255,000 which is a 7.5% increase over last year.

In Nelson the value of a typical home is now $333,000 which is almost a 5.7 % increase.

Most communities have seen slight increases with Castlegar and Creston up around 4% ($264,000 and $ 225,000 respectively) and Grand Forks at 3% ($194,000)

Trail however has seen a 6% decrease in property assessments over last year putting a typical home at $155,000.
