Group calls for charter rights to healthy environment

A group of environmental activists in Nelson have called on the Queen City to join a growing list of local governments who endorse the right to a healthy environment.

They are part of the Blue Dot campaign which calls on Canada to make fresh air, clean water and healthy food a right under the charter.

High school student Arianna Murphy-Steed was among the delegation.

She aims to run workshops on water conservation where senior grades will mentor others.

110 nations have laws that recognize the right to a healthy environment but Canada currently does not.
