Pepper spray assault in Nelson

Nelson police are reporting a case of assault with pepper spray in the downtown Sunday.

Around midnight it’s alleged a 23 year old who is known to police used the weapon on another man.

He ran off but police found him hiding in a nearby residence.

In another matter on Monday staff at a grocery store noticed a man acting suspiciously.

When police arrived they watched the 27 year stuffing and concealing groceries in his large jacket.

He was arrested and charged with shoplifting.
