Cottonwood Creek restoration getting a second look

An attempt to restore the lower part of Nelson’s Cottonwood Creek is being re-floated.

It was put on hold a few years back because of work around the closure of the Lakeside Transfer Station.

But Alan Thomson with the Rod And Gun Club says he’s now speaking with the private land owners CP Rail.

The idea is to remove the concrete that lines the sides and bed of the creek leading to the lake and to create natural banks.

The restored creek would improve fish habitat.

Thomson says there are grants available for the work once CPR gives the go ahead.
