Without having had conversations with Nelson it’s impossible for Castlegar to know what the Queen City is thinking in terms of shared recreational facilities.
That’s one of the messages from Castlegar City Councillor Dan Rye, who is also on his Recreation Commission.
Nelson has said they want to reach out to Castlegar on future facilities planning and shared resources.
Rye says there has been no talk so far.
Nelson officials have not suggested a new building halfway between the communities.
But they do want to talk to Castlegar about possibly avoiding major taxpayer investment in duplicated facilities, like secondary ice surfaces for example, when each community could offer something different for maximum user benefit.
