A big step forward for the ageing Arrow Lakes Hospital in Nakusp.
Our regional hospital board has given a $100,000 payment to Interior Health for the planning process for much-needed upgrades to the emergency room.
Mayor Karen Hamling says it was built in 1975 and it’s very important IH has accepted this money.
The upgrades could cost up to $5 million.
The Ministry Of Health gives final approval for the work that hamling hopes can happen within two years.
She adds it’s vital hospitals other than in Trail and Nelson are upgraded for the sake of those respective communities.
