New bylaws being prepared by the city of Nelson clear up grey areas on marijuana dispensaries.
In light of the surge in marijuana dispensaries the Queen City has had to clarify language regarding business licence approval and penalties.
Councillor Michael Dailly sees it as a bit of a stop gap until federal laws on legalization come in.
The new bylaws will allow businesses to be inspected for any illegal activity and for court action leading to fines of up to $10,000 for serious breaches.
Beyond that the police, as before, can always act on complaints from the public.
