Kalmikoff guilty of drug possession

A local woman, still awaiting sentencing for armed robbery, has been found guilty on a separate drugs possession charge.

The judge found Krista Kalmikoff guilty following an incident in January when the car she was driving hit another head-on near Salmo.

No one was hurt but police found a small amount of cocaine near the foot pedals and also a quantity of marijuana in the trunk.

The judge dismissed claims made in court this week by one of two male passengers in the car that the drugs were actually his.

This case is significant because Kalmikoff had been out on bail as she awaits her armed robbery sentencing.
