The specialist low altitude helicopter skills of Nelson Search and Rescue (NSAR) were needed in two different incidents this week.
Crews were called to different back country lodges where speedy access was challenging because of the valley cloud.
On Tuesday they were called to Powder Creek Lodge to evacuate a person who had fallen inside the building and seriously injured their back.
Then on Thursday a crew was sent to Slocan Chief Cabin in Kokanee Glacier Park to evacuate a person who’d suffered a heart attack.
In both cases NSAR air-lifted the subjects out to BC Ambulance crews who were positioned nearby.
Search and rescue’s mandate includes medical evacuations.
