The very successful Kootenay Carshare Co-op in Nelson hopes to have a special vehicle in their fleet by the summer.
Executive Director Colleen Doyle says they’ve been working with the Seniors Coordinating Society on buying a wheelchair accessible van.
They’ve already put down $5,000 as a holding deposit on a vehicle.
A survey last year showed there is a demand for a wheelchair accessible vehicle to be available for hire on an hourly basis.
They’re seeking donations as well as grants and the community can contact the Seniors Coordinating Society.
