The release to the public of a decision regarding the appropriate number of police officers in Nelson appears imminent.
Speaking ahead of an in-camera council meeting on the matter last night Mayor Deb Kozak said she hoped both sides would get together within days to be sure they were on the same page before coming out to the public.
The provincial director of police services informed the city and police board nearly two weeks ago on their decision.
We asked Kozak if since then private negotiations to reach a deal had been going on between the two parties?
The police board met last week to discuss the decision.
If Nelson has been told to hire two more officers that could cost taxpayers $300,000 a year more.
