Fed budget 2016: hope for small rural communities

Serious cash is expected to be available for big cities in Tuesday’s Federal budget but rural Canada has grounds to be hopeful too.

This from Leah Main – the Regional Director for Silverton – who is also one of ten BC directors on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM).

She says the devil will be in the details regarding expected announcements on national infrastructure funding but she’s assured by signals coming out of the FCM.

The FCM is a powerful national lobby group for local government.

Main says the Feds have been made fully aware of the plight facing small communities regarding crumbling infrastructure and the need for improved water treatment systems for example.
