The big highlight in the federal budget for smaller rural cities and areas is the change to the cost-sharing model on infrastructure projects.
This from RDCK Rural Director Leah Main who is our rep on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
She says the Feds are now offering to pay up to 50% of the cost.
The assumption is that local governments will now only have to pay 25%.
Main says money in the first two years of the federal budget opens the door for shovel ready projects and to re-submit applications that may have been denied previously.
