The City Of Nelson is allowing a larger than normal patio to be built outside a new business in the downtown.
The owners of the Savoy Hotel have the okay to construct a 60 person patio on Falls Street covering four parking stalls.
Mayor Deb Kozak says it’s an interim agreement and may be withdrawn after a review of the Queen City’s restaurant patios next year.
The patio will be about 65 meters from residential streets posing a possible noise issue and it will take up 4 stalls when Nelson is already challenged by a lack of parking.
