The City Of Nelson is changing its fees and charges for parks and sports fields.
This is to help pay for more than $300,000 a year in maintenance costs.
Sports users will pay by the hour now instead of per player which is expected to have a slight impact on some.
City Manager Kevin Cormack says it’s to ensure the scarce field space is used for the benefit of all.
Nelson will also now charge $100 for a private event in its parks, like a wedding, and $50 for a public event such as one organized by a non-profit group.
Previously such park use was free.
