The local sculpture scene in our region is getting a further boost.
An international stone carving symposium is being hosted in Nelson later this summer.
Local sculptor John McKinnon is one of the organisers. Four Canadian and four international artists will work on their pieces outside the rail station building in Railtown.
They will have just three weeks to complete their work.
The event -starting late August- will enhance the area’s reputation for sculpture while attracting visitors to Nelson’s Railtown district.
