An extensive homelessness count in Nelson gets underway later Tuesday.
It’s the Queen City’s first Point-In-Time (PIT) count and will involve over 50 volunteers working with the Nelson Committee on Homelessness.
Shelters and transitional housing will be surveying and counting residents Tuesday night. Then teams of volunteers will be hitting the streets, parks, alleys, hang outs and many service locations during the day Wednesday.
The homelessness count is part of, and supported by a nationally-coordinated effort under the Federal Homeless Partnering strategies.
