BC’s Education Minister is on a tour of our area.
And he got to hear from more than school trustees.
Mike Bernier checked out Creston’s Adam Roberston Elementary, which could be rebuilt, and then Nelson’s Trafalgar Middle, which is slated for closure.
After a private meeting with the board he met protesters at the gate calling for more money for public education.
Bernier told them he wants to be on the ground to understand challenges facing trustees and said SD8’s were doing an excellent job in finding solutions.
He would not commit to extra funding to help the districts renewal plans as it faces budget deficits in light of declining enrollment.
