Protest set for school board meeting

School trustees can expect a large protest in the Slocan Valley later Tuesday against the possible closure of Winlaw Elementary.

PAC chair Eden DuPont says even though Winlaw is near full capacity the board is pondering moving the kids to W E Graham, which is under-utilized but 20 kilometres away.

She says Winlaw also offers excellent access for their very successful Strongstart programming.

Dupont says if Winlaw closes many families would take their kids out of the system and not send them to W E Graham.

The board meeting takes place this evening at W E Graham school at 5 pm.
