Expensive relocation pondered for Balfour Ferry Terminal

Documents released ahead of tonight’s public open house regarding the Balfour Ferry Terminal show it would cost $25 million to relocate.

A study commissioned by the BC Ministry Of Transportation also states construction would take almost two years once agency approval and design work is done.

The location for the possible new terminal is on Queens Bay, which would cut the crossing distance from kootenay bay almost in half.

The shallow location of the current terminal on the West Arm is damaging the Osprey vessel.

There are other risks for boating and traffic.

Today’s open house goes from 5 pm till 8pm at Redfish Elementary School on the North Shore.
