A Balfour Landing business owner says the government is misrepresenting the costs on a move of the ferry terminal to Queens Bay.
Kevin Smith owns Old World Bakery.
He says no climate, fish habitat or archeological studies have been done.
So there’s no proof the province could save up to $10 million on the move versus upgrading the Balfour terminal and replacing the older vessel.
And Smith adds the ministry is hiding the plus $11 million cost of having a barge when the Osprey ferry is out of service.
The ministry says these capital costs are likely not as important as the million dollars a year in operational costs that would be saved by moving to Queens Bay.
