It may not directly help the most vulnerable in the Queen City but a group is supporting an affordable housing project by a Nelson church.
Kootenay Christian Fellowship wants to build over 40 rental units in the downtown for low-paid working adults.
Ann Harvey with the Nelson Committee on Homelessness says that can only help the current 0% vacancy rate.
The church proposal will likely be in competition for BC Housing money from another more established organisation which wants to build units for seniors.
But Harvey says she’s somewhat optimistic the Feds will kick in money to match a newly announced Provincial housing fund.
