The group behind the multi-million-dollar vision of a gondola ride in Nelson says it has captured the public’s imagination.
Local Graeme Leadbeater is among the volunteers with the concept of a skyride from Railtown up to Morning Mountain.
He was speaking after a presentation to the city and is thrilled councillors appear interested in the amenity which would open access to upper-elevation recreation year-round.
He says they will move slowly on this, and in conjunction with the community.
The group is seeking $25,000 from the city and the RDCK, to be matched by the CBT, for a $100,000 feasibility study.
The project could cost up to $25 million.
