Roller derby players host Derby for Dax

West Kootenay roller derby players are coming together to help one of their own.

They’re hosting an event in Rossland on Sunday to benefit the family of a 17-month-old boy battling cancer.

Organizer Valerie Rossi says Kirsten Stevenson’s son Dax was recently diagnosed with neuroblastoma.

“Derby for Dax” is Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Rossland arena and will see players lace up for an exhibition match.

Rossi says local derby players haven’t had much of a chance to face each other since the league folded last year.
