A pedestrian crossing over the Columbia River would significantly enhance the picture of the Silver City.
So says Mayor Dieter Bogs as Trail prepares for the August 23rd referendum when residents will decide if they want the City to borrow nearly 5 million dollars to build the structure.
Bogs says it would be an “attraction” from the community’s perspective.
Bogs admits most importantly they want to take advantage of a one time opportunity to add a walkway and utilities pipe to the RDKB’s sewer infrastructure.
The City would pay back the 5 million with federal gas tax dollars and there would be no direct additional taxes.
