Nelson’s mayor says the city’s east waterfront has come a long way since the days of Kootenay Forest Products.
John Dooley recalls that after the sawmill closed in the mid-1980s the site was filled with derelict buildings.
But he says it’s remarkable how it’s been reclaimed for housing over the last decade.
Dooley was speaking after city council gave the green light this week to the first phase of Nelson Landing.
