A species of bee never before seen west of the Rocky Mountains is thriving in the Pend d’Orielle.
Bee expert Lincoln Best is running a biodiversity study about bees in the area and has discovered the Melittidae live there.
He says they’re not invasive.
He says the Melittidae are drawn to Yellow Loosestrife flowers.
They seek floral oils rather than nectar.
