Evacuation Alert rescinded near Toronto Creek wildfire

Some great news from the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary this afternoon. An evacuation alert was rescinded for 22 addresses near the Toronto Creek Wildfire. Chris Marsh, the RDKB’s Emergency Program Manager, says this comes after progress by wildfire crews.

The Toronto Creek Wildfire is about 12 hectares in size and located about 13 kilometers north of Grand Forks. It is now fully contained and guarded and classified as under control by the BC Wildfire Service.

Marsh says progress is being made on another fire as well.

The Lynch Creek fire is located 25 kilometers north of Grand Forks and is roughly 122 hectares in size. Its status according to the BC Wildfire Service is ‘being held’ – an evacuation alert for 25 addresses in the area remains.

Marsh says work on the Santa Rosa wildfire continues.

Currently 33 addresses in the Santa Rosa and Big Sheep Creek areas are on evacuation alert.
