Castlegar is well on their way to becoming a BearSmart community.
So says local Wildlife BC Coordinator Jenny Wallace following city council’s adoption of a Wildlife Attractant Bylaw this week.
Wallace commended the city last year for installing a number of bear proof bins in public parks.
However she says more can still be done.
Wallace believes the $50 fines for various garbage offenses and $100 dollar penalties for neglecting to pick up fallen fruit are appropriate.
