First Fortis smart meters installed locally

Fortis BC has begun installing their advanced meters in the Trail-Salmo area.

Spokesperson David Wylie says they’ve been notifying customers in advance for the past couple of weeks about the conversion.

 

Wylie adds residents do not need to be home during the process.

The exchanges are starting in Trail and Salmo before work starts in the Boundary the middle of next year.

The rest of the Kootenays is set to be done late 2015.
