The City of Grand Forks is reassuring industrial business with an amendment to their noise bylaw.
Council has agreed to exclude industrial operations from the regulation to allow certain work to go 24 hours a day or seven days a week.
CAO Doug Allin says that will benefit industry coming to town.
Allin says the next step of this process will be addressing exact decibel levels caused from work that he adds is one of the most challenging things in the community.
He says industry has spent millions of dollars in past years trying to mitigate noise.
The move comes as Grand Forks was recognized at the UBCM’s Small Business Awards.
