The mayor of Rossland has withdrawn from next month’s mayoral race.
After seven years at the helm Greg Granstrom has decided he’ll focus on a council seat and not try to fend off the challenge of councillor Kathy Moore.
Granstrom admits he faced a strong challenge from Moore saying the vote count would have been “close.”
Councillor Jill Spearn has now stepped up to challenge Moore and Granstrom says Spearn is someone he can support. He says there are no issues with him about ego and who chairs council.
Many figure Moore is a firm favorite to win -in part because she pushed for the Auditor General for Local Government (AGLG) to investigate Rossland’s internal financial management shortcomings.
