One of the two contenders for the mayor of Rossland says voters should not think there is some sort of alliance between her and the outgoing Greg Granstrom.
Councillor and teacher Jill Spearn effectively swopped places with Granstrom for next month’s election race – she running for mayor and he for council- when he figured his chances against Kathy Moore weren’t assured.
Spearn says she’s an independent thinker and had considered a run at mayor for while.
Spearn has been in the community for almost 35 years, knows a lot of people and says she’d be a good fit.
Moore- a two term councillor – pressed for more public exposure of Rossland’s recent financial mismanagement woes. Spearn says she supported Moore’s efforts.
