The local election in Castlegar is not about council but the leadership race.
This from long-time incumbent Deb McIntosh who openly backs incumbent mayor Lawrence Chernoff.
She says because challenger Gord Zaitsoff is from neighboring Area J he can’t have the single focus on the city that is needed.
McIntosh says voters should pick her again because she stands up and gets heard on all issues. She’s seeking a 5th successive term.
