Smokies D-man Hendry commits to Waterloo

Trail Smoke Eaters defenceman Jordan Hendry has committed to the University of Waterloo Warriors for next season.

Hendry, 20, has spent four seasons with the Smokies and played over 150 games.

This season he’s scored a career best five goals and 13 assists. Hendry is one of the longest serving Smoke Eaters in team history, ranking fourth amongst defenceman in all time games played.

“Jordan has been a staple amongst our defensive core for many years now, as an organization and a staff we are thrilled that Jordan can continue his hockey career along with combining his academics next season with the University of Waterloo,” general manager and head coach Tim Fragle said in a news release.

“I’m honoured and excited to join the Warriors and play for the University of Waterloo,” Hendry said.

“My goal has always been to play hockey at the next level and pursue an education at a great school. I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches and the Trail Smoke Eaters organization for helping me achieve this goal.”
