Castlegar airport 84% reliable in March

The West Kootenay Regional Airport saw five flights cancelled last month out of 31 attempts, for an 84 per cent reliability rate.

That’s about the same as the previous month, when the rate was 82 per cent.

Airport manager Maciej Habrych told city council Monday the load factor was 53 per cent last month.

Meanwhile, council heard the city is getting ready to issue a request for proposal for an engineering firm to provide civil design work for the airport taxiway and apron rehabilitation project. The construction work is expected to go to tender this summer.

The city received a $2.36 million grant for the project.

Meanwhile, council was told replacement of the airport roof should continue soon. The north half was finished last year.
