Fifteen Kootenay organizations are getting a piece of $30 million.
B.C. government officials said investing in tourism infrastructure across the province will keep building B.C. as a top tourism destination.
“That’s why we’re building a strong tourism sector where visitors can experience all our province has to offer and British Columbians can enjoy their favourite places as well as the benefits of a strong, diverse economy,” said Premier David Eby.
The City of Kimberley will be getting $1 million for the rejuvenation of the Cominco Gardens.
Castlegar will also be receiving $1 million for the construction of a tourism and economic development hub, while the Nelson Electric Tramway Society is getting the same amount for rehabilitating the Nelson electric tram.
One million dollars will also go to the Cranbrook Archives, Museum and Landmark Society and to Kootenay Employment Services in Creston.
The money will be used for a heritage railcar preservation building project and a Creston Valley-Kootenay Lake wayfinding and signage project.
