Trail’s Ryan Huska has been named the latest bench boss for the Calgary Flames.
Huska is replacing Darryl Sutter who was let go after the team failed to make the playoffs this season.
Huska isn’t new to the team though. He was hired back in 2014 as head coach of the Flame’s affiliate team.
In 2018, he was promoted to assistant coach for the Flames.
“My position coming into this is a little different than most as I know our players very well,” he said in a release.
“We have good people in our dressing room, excellent hockey players who want to win. My job is to inspire them every single day to help get our team to the next level.”
Back in his playing days, Huska spent four seasons with WHL Kamloops Blazers and was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks, but only played one NHL game.
He was born in Cranbrook but was raised in Trail.
