UPDATED: Woman pulled from wreck of Thrums crash

The Tarrys fire department used the jaws of life to rescue a woman from a car that struck a utility pole Saturday in Thrums and flipped over.

Chief Greg Patterson said it happened around 9 p.m. Saturday on Thrums West Road.

The vehicle sheared off the pole and flipped on its side, leaving the lone occupant trapped. Thirteen Tarrys firefighters responded and within 10 minutes had cut the roof off of the vehicle. The 42-year-old Thrums woman was turned over to paramedics and taken to hospital. She has since been released.

There was no immediate word on her condition, but Sgt. Monty Taylor said police have not ruled out impairment. She was issued a ticket for not having insurance.

Power was knocked out to some nearby homes.
